So today, I got thinking about this. How many writers are there among my friends and family following this. I'm not just talking about those that have published works but those that keep a journal, write small research papers for the clubs or lodges, write short stories and send them to magazines, or are you an editor for a publication, famous or not? The reason I ask is because I haven't actually been what I would have called a writer, until now but I have done a bit of writing over the last 10 years. I have written research papers for college, I have had a short story published in a club magazine, I have had several articles published in several group related publications, I have on and off written a research paper for Masonic Lodges, and I have on and off kept a journal, or diary.
In the end I ask because one of the ways that I was most discouraged, in the past, about trying to be a writer was that I was constantly told, "writers write," and I was obviously not writing. I know it's odd but at this point in my still short journey, I would really like to hear from some of you. You can comment here or if you'd rather that your being a writer not be made public, send it via the messenger section of my Author Facebook Page, Michael John Hambrecht.
Honestly I'd like to hear from you about your writing careers, big or small. I'm sure that it will help encourage me and hopefully others will get some encouragement as well. Please share with me and if you're not a writer, feel free to share how you feel about writing.
In college, I was the secretary for my fraternity for 3 years. I had to write reports to our district newsletter every semester so they would know what our chapter was doing and had done. Not all of the submissions were ever published, but 2 were. One was about President Clinton visiting a high school where a brother worked and the other was done in the style of a Star Trek log entry. They were fun to write, especially the log entry. I channeled my inner Jean-Luc Picard for that one.
ReplyDeleteWriting can be fun. I like the feeling of writing things down on paper. Writing can also help my soul. It helps to clear my mind. It can express something that has been inside when I can't say the words aloud. Keep at it and write. You have a great voice and I see it on Thursday evenings. You have knowledge and experience and I know that it will make a great story. You got this brother.
(chirp chirp) Enterprise. One to beam up.
Thank you and just from reading your reply, I can see that you are good at this as well.
